Hawaiian Telcom employees conduct Kanahā cleanup
Hundreds of Hawaiian Telcom employees spent the day volunteering for various community service projects statewide on Friday as part of the company’s annual “Day in the Community.” Volunteers on Maui participated in a cleanup of Kanahā Beach Park in Kahului as part of the effort.
Emergency training exercise at Kahului Airport on Friday
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies the public that a training exercise will be conducted at the Kahului Airport from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 20. The Kahului Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighters will conduct an emergency training exercise that tests the response to a simulated aircraft incident on a Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. The exercise is a requirement by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Storm cleanup resumes on Maui: park and landfill closures continue
Flooding and ground conditions have caused the closure of Baldwin Beach Park, Kalepolepo Beach Park, Kepaniwai Park, and the third entrance to Kanaha Beach Park. Restrooms at Kanaha Beach Park are closed until water service is restored. The Cooke Memorial Pool on Molokaʻi is also closed today.

State officials say the crews encountered at least two illegal campers who were told to leave before the contract crews and heavy equipment moved in.
