MFTC announces Food Labeling Workshop, Oct. 30
Maui Food Technology Center will hold an in-person Food Labeling Workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Maui Food Innovation Center at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, Pilina Building, Room 225 located at 310 W. Kaʻahumanu Ave. in Kahului. Those interested in learning about the latest in food labeling, regulatory requirements, and how their efforts can be a game changer are encouraged to attend.
Kahikolu Project on Maui targets axis deer and widespread environmental impacts
Prolific herds of hungry Axis deer continue to wreak havoc in Maui County, damaging farm crops, overgrazing livestock pasture lands, threatening fragile watersheds and even encroaching in heavily urbanized areas like Kahului Airport’s runways and baggage claim areas. Without natural predators in the islands, the deer have flourished unchecked. Now, in part due to an initiative funded by Maui County, some deer are falling prey to hungry humans.

Fifteen Maui companies and one from Moloka‘i exhibited their products at the renowned 49th International Food and Beverage Exhibition 2024. More than two dozen other companies from Hawai‘i also took part in the FoodEx event, held from March 5-8 at the Tokyo Big Sight in the Tokyo International Exhibition Center.
