Over 1,000 Maui keiki to benefit as wildfire mental health program expands in year 2

Maui Youth & Family Services (MYFS), in partnership with Maui United Way and Sentry’s Mālama Nā Keiki Initiative, is expanding critical mental health services for keiki impacted by the Lahaina wildfires. 

Keiki events connect community during time of continuing need

Staff from Maui Behavioral Health Resources participated in a Summer ʻOhana Fun event on Friday, June 13 to bring fun, healing and mental health awareness to the communities of Ka Laʻi Ola and Kilohana in Lahaina.

Maui youth to go shopping with successful Makana no nā Keiki Drive

Maui youth will enjoy a special shopping day at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center this Thursday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m. as the culmination of Ledcor Maui’s Makana no nā Keiki gift drive. The second annual “Gifts for Children” drive raised $105,000 for Maui youth, and was made possible by the generous giving of Ledcor and community partners, in partnership with nonprofit ʻĀina Momona.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi announced the selection of its new president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals Hawaiʻi, Edmund “Ed” Chan. Chan’s roots in Hawaiʻi began early in his career. In 2000, after completing his Registered Dietitian training in Boston, he accepted a position as a clinical dietitian for Hale Makua Health Services in Kahului, Maui. Chan also took on roles at the Community Clinic of Maui and served as a consultant dietitian to Maui Youth & Family Services.

Maui Youth & Family Services seeking foster parents

The program helps youth who are not able to receive care in their own home but can achieve stability and growth in a caring atmosphere where they can receive parental supervision, guidance and support.

Ledcor Maui’s inaugural gift drive raises $100K for youth 

More than 100 youth and administrators from three local nonprofits gathered at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center on Dec. 18 as the guests of honor of Ledcor Maui. The festive event was the culmination of a month-long gift drive by Ledcor Maui called Makana no nā Keiki (Gifts for Children), which raised $100,000 for Maui youth.
