The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is offering a special Summer/Fall 2026 Culinary “Launchpad” Scholarship designed specifically for those eager to get trained and start working in the culinary industry quickly.

The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division’s Kahului Corps will hold its annual Thanksgiving meal service on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, Culinary Arts program announced a lineup of six non credit cooking and baking classes to help students improve skills and offer ideas for holiday gatherings and gift-giving. The classes run from Saturday, Nov. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All classes take place in the Pāʻina Building on the UHMC Kahului campus.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College Culinary Arts Program’s Back Door Bake Shop hosts a pop-up bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025.

Aurum Maui opened in July and the kitchen staff is loaded with University of Hawai’i Maui College culinary program graduates — 10 of 21 kitchen staffers are UHMC graduates.

All Pā‘ina Market outlets at UH Maui College are open this week from Tuesday through Thursday.

Leah Julianni Rodriguez, a UH Maui College culinary graduate and a cook at the Fairmont Kea Lani, said at first it was a little intimidating working side-by-side with executive chefs, at least one of whom had 3-star Michelin restaurant experience. However, she welcomed the opportunity to observe, learn and improve.

Student teaching assistant Ryan Chang will earn two associate of applied arts degrees in May (one specializing in culinary arts and the other specializing in baking and pastry). He played a key role in the college’s emergency production of thousands of meals in the aftermath of the August wildfires. 

Culinary students at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College organized about 1,600 boxes of produce that were distributed to students and community members impacted by the August wildfires.

An estimated 650 Thanksgiving meals were served on Wednesday under an annual community service partnership between the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College and The Salvation Army.

World Plate and Paniolo Grill are both open this semester, doubling the number of lunch options from last semester at UHMC’s Pā‘ina Market. Both of these outlets are run by students in the college’s award-winning culinary arts program.

The small but mighty World Plate class at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Culinary Arts Program is preparing dishes in the newly modernized Pā‘ina Market. In addition to the UHMC ʻohana, dining is also open to the public.

Premiering tonight, Monday, July 12, at 7 p.m. is Maui’s own big wave surfer, community advocate and YouTube cooking sensation Ian Walsh. A new episode will air every Monday for the next 12 weeks at 7 p.m. on Spectrum OC16.

Nine students in the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College Culinary Arts Program’s Advanced Baking class, showed off their sugar skills in their latest assignment.

“It’s another example of the way we can successfully partner with the community to everyone’s benefit,” said UH Maui College Chancellor Lui Hokoana.

Entremets, pronounced ‘ontra-may,’ are complex cakes – they involve difficult techniques, advanced knowledge of flavors and textures and the construction is nothing short of architectural.

The 2020 gradreports ranked the University of Hawai’i Maui College Culinary Arts Program No. 1 on its survey of the 25 best associate in culinary arts programs in the United States.

Enrollment is open for a new Culinary Farm-To-Table Certificate of Professional Development being offered by the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Office of Extended Learning & Workforce Development.
