Following recent rainfall and ongoing community water conservation, the County of Maui Department of Water Supply is suspending the Stage 1 Central and South Maui water shortage, effective immediately and until further notice.

Half a year after the devastating Aug. 8 Maui wildfires, tourism is making a comeback in Maui County when measured by hotel occupancy but not so much by room revenue, according to the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority’s monthly hotels performance report released Tuesday.

Maui’s new luxury residential development, Laʻi Loa in Wailea, is now open for sales. La’i Loa, the first release within the master-planned Wailea Hills Collection, is a 13-acre community with 75 condominium residences spread across 15 boutique-sized buildings. 

Doctors On Call will be offering drive-up rapid COVID-19 testing on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Shops At Wailea. Patients are asked to remain in their cars where a nurse will conduct the rapid COVID-19 test.

Maui County led the state in overall revenue per available room or RevPAR at $367 (up 11.1 percent), while the resort area of Wailea in South Maui had the highest RevPAR in the state at $611 (up 9.4 percent).
