The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the parts of Maui, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi through 6 o’clock tonight.
National Weather Service: May rain gauges show below average rainfall
The driest areas were on the leeward coast and in Maui’s Central Valley. Many rain gauge sites recorded less than 10% of their May average rainfall, including gauges at Keālia Pond and Kīhei 2, which had zero rainfall for the month.
Maui Flood Advisory extended to 10:30 p.m.

Maui County rainfall ‘below average’ in December
All rain gauges in Maui County saw below average rainfall in December, while three locations — Kula Branch Station, ʻUlupalakua Ranch, and Māhinahina — had their lowest December totals on record, according to a monthly rainfall report by the National Weather Service.
Hoʻokipa reopens; Baldwin, Tavares Bay remain closed due to debris from high surf
The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation reopened Ho‘okipa Beach Park on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, after debris and damage from high surf was addressed. Baldwin Beach Park and Tavares Bay in Kūʻau remain closed while debris removal continues.
Red Flag Warning issued for leeward areas until Thursday afternoon
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for leeward areas of all islands due to gusty winds and low relative humidity. The warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.
Fire Weather Watch for leeward areas on Friday
The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch, in effect for the leeward areas of all islands from Friday morning through Friday afternoon. A combination of strong winds with gusts up to 50 mph, low relative humidity as low as 40-50%, and dry fuels can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
Public invited to free presentation on Maui’s Wet Weather Outlook, Nov. 14
The public is invited to a free Zoom presentation on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. by Kevin Kodama, Senior Service Hydrologist for the National Weather Service’s Honolulu Forecast Office. The talk is hosted online by Kula Community Watershed Alliance, a nonprofit community-based organization formed to stabilize, protect, restore, and maintain the areas of Kula impacted in the August 2023 wildfire.
