The talented artists behind King Kamehameha III Elementary School’s temporary campus mural project are set to hold a community meeting at the temporary King Kamehameha III cafeteria on Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Residents are invited to provide feedback on the County of Maui’s proposed acquisition of the approximately 273-acre Von Tempsky property, formerly known as Kula Ridge Mauka in Kula.

Hawaiian Airlines celebrated the return of its seasonal Auckland-Honolulu route on Saturday, welcoming over 200 travelers on a nonstop flight between Hawai‘i and New Zealand. The seasonal service will continue to operate three flights per week on its 278-seat Airbus A330 through April 30, 2025.

A three-year agreement has been reached in the protection of endangered and threatened Hawaiian seabirds in Maui County. The Conservation Council for Hawai‘i and American Bird Conservancy represented by Earthjustice reports it reached the settlement with Hawaiian Electric on Oct. 30, 2024.

Schatz is set to press Administration officials on recovery efforts on Maui in a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on Wednesday. “We cannot leave town for the holidays next month without passing the long-term relief that survivors need and deserve. This is not optional. We need to get this done,” said Sen. Schatz.

A power outage in the Upcountry area of Maui knocked out electricity to some traffic signals along the Haleakalā Highway earlier this morning. The outage was first reported at around 4:35 a.m. As of 7:40 a.m., an estimated 61 customers remained without power. The majority of impacted customers were expected to have power restored by 9 a.m.

The Lunas finished 6-5 and said goodbye to 22 seniors after the game. “We’re just proud of our seniors and what they were able to accomplish in the last four years, considering everything that’s been going on,” Rickard said. “It’s not an excuse.
