Hawaiian Airlines resumes seasonal Auckland-Honolulu route

Hawaiian Airlines celebrated the return of its seasonal Auckland-Honolulu route on Saturday, welcoming over 200 travelers on a nonstop flight between Hawai‘i and New Zealand. The seasonal service will continue to operate three flights per week on its 278-seat Airbus A330 through April 30, 2025.

Settlement reached in protection of imperiled seabirds

A three-year agreement has been reached in the protection of endangered and threatened Hawaiian seabirds in Maui County. The Conservation Council for Hawai‘i and American Bird Conservancy represented by Earthjustice reports it reached the settlement with Hawaiian Electric on Oct. 30, 2024.

Coral recovery project completed on Hawai‘i Island

Gradual restoration underway for power outage Upcountry

A power outage in the Upcountry area of Maui knocked out electricity to some traffic signals along the Haleakalā Highway earlier this morning. The outage was first reported at around 4:35 a.m. As of 7:40 a.m., an estimated 61 customers remained without power. The majority of impacted customers were expected to have power restored by 9 a.m.

Coast Guard medevacs ailing man from Midway Atoll

Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu watchstanders received a phone call from a US Fish and Wildlife officer on Midway Atoll at 4 p.m. Saturday requesting a medevac for a 62-year-old carpenter experiencing symptoms of a seizure or stroke.
