May 22, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 93 Cases (85 Confirmed, 8 Probable)

The state Department of Health reports that there were 93 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Friday, including 85 confirmed cases and eight cases that were identified as probable. The confirmed cases included: 65 on O‘ahu; 15 on Maui, one on Hawai‘i Island, and three in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state. The probable cases included: six on O‘ahu, two on O‘ahu and one in a Hawai‘i resident diagnosed while out of state.

UH Maui Nursing Program Awarded $37,850 from Wailea Community Association

The Wailea Community Association committed to a partnership with the UH Maui nursing program and is helping 41 graduates from the class of 2021 obtain their nursing licensure by funding the costs associated with taking the National Council Licensure Examination for each UHMC graduate.

The confirmed cases included: 50 on O‘ahu, five on Maui, three on Hawai‘i Island, and one in a Hawai‘i resident diagnosed while out of state.

2-5 Tropical Cyclones Predicted in 2021 Central Pacific Hurricane Season Outlook

For the season as a whole, 2 to 5 tropical cyclones are predicted for the Central Pacific hurricane region. This number includes tropical depressions, named storms and hurricanes. A near-normal season has 4 or 5 tropical cyclones.
