Pacific Media Group today announced that it has created a $2 Million Marketing Fund to be granted to Hawaiʻi businesses to assist with messaging to consumers across the state. Pacific Media Group designed this program to help local businesses connect with consumers looking for goods and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air arrivals to Maui totaled 63 on Sunday with four flights arriving from out-of-state. This included 16 crew members, 32 residents and 15 visitors.

Maui reported its first COVID-19 related death today, and has one new case for a total of 44 confirmed positive. Of the 44 cases on Maui, at least 11 have been released from isolation, and four have required hospitalization.

The Hawaii Department of Health has confirmed the first COVID-19 related death in Maui County, Mayor Michael Victorino announced this morning. “My heart is heavy with this tragic news,” Mayor Victorino said. “Mrs. Victorino and I offer our deepest condolences to this individual’s family and know that our community will also offer support and love during this difficult time.”

The remote community of Hāna in East Maui will move forward with sanitation of businesses and public places on Tuesday and then transition to a new shopping process once stores reopen, according to an update on Sunday evening provided by Senate Majority Leader J. Kalani English (Hāna, East and Upcountry Maui, Moloka‘i, Lāna‘i and Kaho‘olawe).

“These results are a source of optimism and caution. There are many serious ‘distancers’ but there are also potential ‘spreaders’ who continue to go to work or to gatherings with family and friends.” This research is based on self-reported behaviors by approximately 11,000 Hawaiʻi residents who participated in an electronic survey during the last week of March 2020.

Support from the Hawaiʻi National Guard at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and Hilo International Airport starts on Monday, April 6, 2020. Support for Kahului Airport on Maui, Līhue Airport on Kauaʻi and the Ellison Onizuka International Airport at Keahole will start soon.

As of noon on Sunday, April 5, 2020, there are 371 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaiʻi with 20 new cases. Maui has five new cases for a total of 43 confirmed positive.

Air arrivals to Maui totaled 62 on Saturday with four flights arriving from out-of-state.  This included 32 crew members, 21 residents, one transit member and eight visitors. 

The individual is an employee of Friendly Market Center and is in self-isolation, according to new information released by Maui Mayor Michael Victorino.

As of noon on Saturday, April 4, 2020, there are 351 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaiʻi with 32 new cases.  Hawaiʻi’s deaths related to COVID-19 remains at three. 

The rural community of Hāna in East Maui could hit 65 to 70 percent unemployment by next week.  “The numbers are sobering,” said Sen. J. Kalani English during an online community meeting last night for members of remote location which reported its first COVID-19 positive case yesterday.

The state is formulating a policy on the voluntary use of facemasks in public. The action comes based on national guidance released today from the CDC, which now recommends wearing a cloth face covering in public, particularly when buying groceries, going to pharmacies and getting take out food. Maui Mayor Michael Victorino began asking for similar compliance earlier this week.

Maui Medical Group has temporarily amended their hours of operation for their five clinics due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hawaiʻi Governor David Ige provided his latest update on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., as Hawaiʻi reported its third COVID-19 death.  

Essential workers who need child care for children under 6 years old during the current COVID-19 crisis can contact PATCH Maui (People Attentive to Children) or the Maui County Early Childhood Resource Center, the Department of Housing and Human Concerns announced.

As of noon on Friday, April 3, 2020, there are 319 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaiʻi with 34 new cases.  State officials are also saying Hawaiʻi now has a third COVID-19 death, confirmed just a short while ago. Maui has nine new cases for a total of 36 confirmed positive. Of the 36 cases on Maui, 11 have been released from isolation and one has required hospitalization. The Maui count also includes a resident of the rural community of Hāna in East Maui and a resident of Molokaʻi who is being treated on the island of Oʻahu.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health is reporting the death of a third individual with COVID-19. The elderly Oʻahu resident had been hospitalized in critical condition on life support for several weeks after returning from travel to Washington state.
