Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, Da Shrimp Hale and Moku Roots cooked up free meals for 125 Maui families during a holiday event created with a partnership between Lahaina Gateway and The Salvation Army.

Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate is now welcoming visitors to its Lahaina farm.  As of Dec. 21, Maui Chocolate Tour offers a first-hand look at how cacao is grown and harvested on Maui, and then wraps up with a nine-piece tasting among the trees.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino has issued a directive allowing restaurants to create and use outdoor dining areas to allow physical distancing for patrons and employees while retaining as many seats as possible.

The Waikiki Brewing Company Lahaina at the Outlets of Maui is fully certified for onsite brewing and is fully operational for table service. The restaurant and specialty brewpub opened its doors in Lahaina in July of 2020 and have been developing a brewing program that supports the demands of social distancing and safe bar practices.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino is seeking approval from Gov. David Ige to temporarily close bars and bar areas within restaurants for two weeks, or until Dec. 26, 2020, to stem the recent double-digit increases in COVID-19 cases.

Lahaina Gateway, West Maui’s largest outdoor shopping center, adds Da Shrimp Hale West to its tenant roster. The new eatery marks the first expansion for the family-owned restaurant, which opened its original location in Kahului in 2016.

Hawaiʻi Agricultural Foundation’s “Localicious Hawaiʻi Art and Poetry Calendar Contest” for the 2020-2021 school year is now open for submissions from Nov. 1-30, 2020. The contest is presented by Hawaiʻi Gas and is open for students from grades K-8. Students are invited to submit original artwork or poem about their favorite dish made with locally grown, caught or raised products.

Manoli’s Pizza Company on Maui welcomes back kamaʻāina and visitors on Nov. 3, 2020.  The restaurant overlooks the Wailea Blue Golf Course, offering al-fresco dining.

Popular West Maui eatery, Star Noodle will reopen in early November at the spot previously occupied by its sister restaurant, Aloha Mixed Plate. Now with enhanced safety measures and distancing requirements, restaurant managers say the new ocean-front space at 1285 Front Street, will provide the open-air and increased capacity they need.
