Two short films feature public artworks in Lahaina
Two project films featuring the latest public artworks in Lahaina are being release. The films were created through the collaborative Hui Mo‘olelo: Lahaina program of Maui Public Art Corps, the County of Maui, Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House/ Maui Historical Society and the Lahaina Restoration Foundation.
Artist 2 Artist: The 2025 Hawaiian Legends Series with Henry Kapono at the MACC
The series kicks off Feb. 28 with Jerry Santos and featuring Anthony Pfluke, continuing on March 27 with Keola Beamer with Moanalani Beamer and featuring Nick La‘a, and on April 26 the series includes Brother Noland and featuring Ninamarie Bell.

ProArts Playhouse and James Nevius present ‘On The Nile: An Evening of Original Music and Dance’ this Thursday
Last year, Kīhei resident James Nevius—a musician, composer and playwright—released an album blending classical and ambient music called “On the Nile: A Musical Landscape in 18 Parts.” Next week, on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, “On the Nile” comes to life as a dance and theater performance at ProArts Playhouse in Kīhei.
Schaefer Portrait Challenge 2025 exhibit showcasing people of Hawaiʻi runs Jan. 14 – March 22
Maui Arts & Cultural Center announces the opening of Schaefer Portrait Challenge from Jan. 14 – March 22, 2025. A signature of the MACC’s Schaefer International Gallery, this marks the eighth edition of this statewide juried exhibition with a selection of 40 portraits from five islands, showcasing the unique diversity of Hawai‘i’s people.
Gretchen Rhodes to headline first Kapalua Concert Series of 2025
The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua rings in the 2025 Kapalua Concert Series with singer-songwriter Gretchen Rhodes. The event will take place on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, from 6-9 p.m. at Alaloa Lounge where Rhodes will deliver an unplugged evening of blues and rock.
