A new mural on the Kūihelani Highway sound wall in Puʻunēnē was created by two Maui artists in collaboration with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Maui District. Titled “Moʻolelo O Maui,” the 60’ wide x 9’ high artwork depicts the beloved story of Maui the demigod harnessing the sun.

Maui resident Kalani Pe‘a won his fourth Grammy for his latest album “Kuini,” in the Best Regional Roots Music Album category. The win is his fourth to date after previous wins in 2017 for his debut album “E Walea,” 2019 for his sophomore album “No ʻAneʻi,” and 2022 for his junior album “Kau Ka Peʻa.” 

The Shops at Wailea invites guests to celebrate the Lunar New Year on Thursday, Feb. 6, with a performance by Oʻahu’s renowned Au’s Shaolin Arts Society.

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation, in collaboration with the Wo Hing Society, invites the community to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Snake with a vibrant, family-friendly celebration. This free event will take place on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Lahaina Cannery Mall – in the outside grass area.

Mālama Maui Nui has announced that submissions are now open for The Art of Trash & Trashion Show 2025, which will be featured at Maui Mall Villages from April 19 to May 17.

Whale Trust hosts the 19th Annual Whale Tales event, taking place Feb. 13-17 at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua. This year’s gathering offers an inspiring setting to connect with like-minded marine enthusiasts, featuring presentations by renowned scientists, conservationists, and photographers. Guests can also enjoy Benefit Whale Watches, an interactive Mauka to Makai Science Center featuring local organizations, and a Community Art Expo.

Children ages 7 to 12 and their chaperones are invited to “Sleep in the Deep” at the aquarium’s 750,000-gallon Open Ocean exhibit. The sleepover includes a bedtime movie with snacks in the Makai Theater along with a continental breakfast and a private showing of the “Humpbacks of Hawai‘i” 3D film the following morning. 

The Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center will host its signature fundraising event, Art Affair, on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The evening promises gourmet cuisine, live music, dancing and both live and silent auctions—all centered around the iconic Hui reflection pool.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will host a free President’s Day concert featuring Hawai‘i Youth Symphony’s top orchestra, Youth Symphony I, on Monday, Feb. 17, at 4 p.m. in the Castle Theater. The event is open to the public, but pre-registration is required online.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents iconic reggae band UB40 featuring original founding member Ali Campbell, returning to Maui to perform at the MACC on Saturday, Feb. 15. Special guests will be announced soon.
