Maui Mediation Services Announces Scheduling Changes Caused by COVID-19 Response: Effective immediately, all mediations currently scheduled to take place will be rescheduled sometime after April 15, 2020 at the earliest.

Below is an open letter from Mayor Michael Victorino to residents of Maui County issued this evening, March 21, 2020, amid the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gov. David Ige is expected to provide updates on the COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi at 3 p.m. 

This service is being offered free of charge in an effort to help boost local businesses and help those struggling to maintain their services amid the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wiki Permits online system is the permitting service for authorized applicants to reserve and purchase permits for commercial activity (beach weddings, etc.) on unencumbered State lands, specifically on state public beaches.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino signed a bill into law on Friday to authorize $4 million in emergency funds to support the County of Maui’s efforts in addressing COVID-19 impacts.

The County of Maui will be closing all offices to the public, starting Monday, March 23, to protect employees and residents against the spread of COVID-19. Contact information is available for the public on each department’s webpage. Closures may be revised and adjusted as needed.

Governor David Ige joined the Labor Department and Small Business Administration today in announcing several measures to address the economic impact of COVID-19 in Hawaiʻi.

“‘Maui is closed.’ That’s the message community leaders are bringing to Maui airports, protesting the continued arrivals of visitors to Maui in an attempt to prevent further spread of COVID19.”

The unemployment offices in Hilo, Kealakekua, Wailuku, and Līhuʻe are switching to an appointment only service for those not using the online system.

Effective today, Thursday, March 19, Maui Humane Society is temporarily closed to the public and is suspending low-priority functions until further notice.

“Effective immediately, we ask that all customers and vendors self-screen before entering our facilities. That means anyone who is showing any flu-like symptoms or is feeling unwell should not enter the port,” Young Brothers advised.

Atlantis Adventures today announced that all submarine tours at its Waikīkī (Oʻahu), Lahaina (Maui) and Kona (Hawaiʻi Island) dive locations, and all dinner and whale watch lunch cruise tours offered aboard Majestic, have been temporarily suspended for two weeks through Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
