“I am open to entertaining the notion of War Memorial Stadium hosting UH football games. It would be a great opportunity for our local college football fans to cheer the Rainbow Warrior football team here at home on Maui.

The Aloha Stadium Authority today announced its decision to reduce operations and place a moratorium on new events at the Stadium. These changes are being adopted in response to COVID-19 safety restrictions that the Authority says “have severely limited revenue generation opportunities.”

The World Surf League is ending the suspension of the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons presented by Hydro Flask, the first stop on the 2021 Men’s Championship Tour. In addition, the remaining heats in the Maui Pro presented by ROXY will be hosted at the legendary Banzai Pipeline on Oʻahu’s North Shore within the Pipe waiting period, which continues through Sunday, Dec. 20. 

Abraham Ancer, Tony Finau, Lanto Griffin and Scottie Scheffler have committed to play in the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions at The Plantation Course at Kapalua, Jan. 6-10.

The remaining heats for the Maui Pro professional women’s surfing event presented by ROXY will not take place at Honolua Bay on Maui, organizers announced. The competition was suspended on Tuesday following after an apparent shark bite incident in which a recreational surfer was bitten.  The victim died on Wednesday evening.

The Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons presented by Hydro Flask has been called ON for a big day of surfing action in Hawaiʻi. Opening Day for the Pipe Masters will start at 8 a.m. HST

Honolua Bay offered up flawless five-to-eight foot (1.8 – 2.4 meter) surf with Hawaiʻi’s Carissa Moore, and Australia’s Tyler Wright and Sally Fitzgibbons advancing to the semifinals.

The Maui Pro presented by ROXY, the first stop of the 2021 World Surf League Championship Tour, is ON starting at 7:05 a.m. local time today.

The first of two back-to-back northwest swells has missed the mark at Honolua Bay, resulting in nearly flat conditions and a third lay day being called today for the first stop of the women’s 2021 World Surf League Championship Tour, the Maui Pro presented by ROXY.

“What we’re looking at in the waiting period is that there is a significant swell in a couple of days’ time, and that’s going to be the money day for us, so we’re really excited about that,” said Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Vice President of Tours and Competition.

The Aloha Council hosts its annual Tee-Up for Scouting golf tournament Nov. 2 to Dec. 15.  The event benefits thousands of boys and girls enrolled in Cub Scout Packs, Scout Troops, and Venturing Crews.

The Sentry Tournament of Champions announced today that it is planning to host its annual PGA event Jan. 7-19, 2021 at the Plantation Course at Kapalua. A limited number of tickets will be able for onsite spectators.

The PGA Tour has opened volunteer registration for the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions event on Maui. The PGA Tour’s annual event will return to The Plantation Course at Kapalua from Jan. 6 to 10, 2021 and will follow safety regulations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
