Central East Maui wins 3-1 vs. NH in Little League World Series; advance to Game 10 on Friday against Great Lakes

The Central East Maui All-Stars won their opening round game in the Little League World Series on Wednesday with a 3-1 victory against Salem, NH, the New England regional team.  The Maui 12U boys advance to Game 10 at 9 a.m. HST (3 p.m. ET) on Friday, Aug. 16 against Great Lakes (Hinsdale Little League of Illinois).

Little League World Series bound: Central East Maui wins West Region title, advances to Williamsport

The Central East Maui Little League majors have secured a spot in the Little League World Series after defeating Eastvale Little League of Southern California on Friday 2-1 for the West Region title. The 12U boys from Maui will play in the opening round of the Little League World Series in Game 2 on Wednesday at 9 a.m. (3 p.m. ET) against Salem, NH, the New England regional team.

36th annual Larry Libres Fishing & Diving Tournament

Glenn Sato, a 71-year-old retiree, won the Tako Division at the 36th annual Larry Libres Fishing & Diving Tournament, Saturday at Kanahā Beach Park in Kahului. Sato is the oldest tako champion in the 36-year history of the event. A total of 201 divers participated in the north shore event with 90 octopuses brought to the scale by 56 divers.
