Coffee Berry Borer Pest Confirmed on Lāna‘i

The coffee berry borer or CBB pest is confirmed in wild coffee on Lānaʻi.  The discovery was made in August 2020, and marks the first detection on the island of CBB, which agricultural officials call “one of the most devastating pest of coffee plants.”

Two Residents of Roselani Place Pass Away, Awaiting Coroner’s Report on Cause of Death

Two residents of the Roselani Place assisted living community on Maui who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 have since passed away. The facility is awaiting the coroner’s report in both cases to determine if the deaths were caused by COVID-19.

66 New COVID-19 Cases (59 O‘ahu, 6 Hawai‘i Island, 1 Out of State), 1 Death

There were 60 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today including 59 on O‘ahu, six on Hawai‘i Island and one case in a resident diagnosed outside of the state. This is the third time in a week where the number of new cases statewide has dropped into the double-digits.

There were 80 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today including 70 on O‘ahu, three in Maui County and seven on Hawai‘i Island. Maui had three additional cases today, with the cumulative total rising to 378.  The latest cases on Maui are all in rural outlying areas, however specifics are not available.
