A Stage 1 water shortage is now in effect for customers in the Upcountry, Maui, service area, the County of Maui Department of Water Supply announced.

DOH continues measles exposure monitoring
The Hawaiʻi State Department of Health continues to respond to a confirmed measles case in an Oʻahu child and a presumptive case in an adult member of the child’s household. Both individuals were exposed during international travel. The child has fully recovered. No new suspected measles cases have been reported as of April 14.
Housing Department submits report on unspent Affordable Housing Fund appropriations

Maui home and condo sales cool in March
The median price for a single family home on Maui was $1,295,000 in March of 2025, down 0.3% from the same time a year ago. The median price for a condo was $822,500 in March, down 36.8% from the same time in 2024.
HECO hosts emergency prep open houses, April 26 in Upcountry and May 3 in Lahaina

Astronomers using W. M. Keck Observatory at Maunakea on Hawaiʻi Island have found compelling evidence of a dark matter-deficient dwarf galaxy, FCC 224. The discovery challenges the traditional cosmological paradigm, which assumes dark matter is a fundamental component in galaxy formation.
