South Kīhei Road work nears completion following December storm

A second Maui County project on South Kīhei Road is in two segments: from Līpoa Street to Auhana Road and from Keonekai Road to Kilohana Drive. Until July, two lanes of traffic will be allowed, with one in each direction. Later in July, road paving work will begin, and alternating single-lane traffic will be implemented.

Deer woes return for local farmers as Maui County drought intensifies

For the third straight month, Maui County rain gauges were below half of what’s average, and some local farmers are seeing the impacts. Ryan Earehart of Okoʻa Farms, a family-owned business in Lower Kula, said deer began jumping his fence again about 10 days ago, ruining crops and searching for water.
