The famed Peʻahi “Jaws” surf break along Maui’s north shore drew a spectacular show of talent from experienced big wave surfers over the weekend as safety crews stood by to assist. These images were captured by photographer, Patrick Wardle who shared the images with us.

Over the summer, the ocean claimed a popular pavilion at Baldwin Beach. A group of volunteers led by the Sea Grant and Surfrider Foundation have begun restoration efforts at the former site to re-naturalize the shoreline and establish sand dunes.

Baldwin Beach Park in Pāʻia will be closed on Thursday, March 16 and Friday, March 17 while crownless palm trees are removed.

Ho’okipa Beach Park, Baldwin Beach Park and Kūʻau Bay Beach Park will remain closed Monday due to high surf and flooding conditions.

Ocean Safety crews on Maui used rescue watercraft to make multiple rescues Wednesday as an XL swell peaked along the north and west facing shores.

Mayor Michael Victorino announced today that he has secured a land donation of 45 acres from Alexander & Baldwin, consisting primarily of park and shoreline lands that will be protected for public recreation and use.

Eight Rotary Clubs on Maui will be conducting beach cleanups on April 24 and May 1 at Baldwin Beach, Kanahā Beach, Kāʻanaplai Beach, Charley Young Beach, Keawakapu Beach, and Keālia Pond. New signage is now posted in Pāʻia that advises the public of a $35 fine for parking violations.  The no parking signs are installed along a stretch of road between Baldwin Beach Park and Lower Pāʻia Park.

Flooding from high surf has led to the closure of Baldwin Beach Park until further notice, the Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation announced today.

A Brown Water Advisory is being issued for Hanakaʻōʻō Beach, Honokahua Bay, Honolua Bay, and Baldwin Beach Park on Maui, due to heavy rains.

Baldwin Beach Park will reopen on Saturday morning, Oct. 31, 2015, following high surf conditions that flooded the park on Wednesday. The extensive cleanup will conclude this afternoon.
