Habitat for Humanity Maui announced its second annual Disaster Recovery Fundraiser to be held at the historic Old Lahaina Lūʻau on Oct. 4, 2025. This event aims to raise essential funds to support the continued rebuilding of Lahaina, which was devastated by the catastrophic wildfires of 2023. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly towards recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Habitat for Humanity Maui celebrated the dedication of two newly constructed homes to Native Hawaiian families in Kula earlier this year. These homes mark another milestone in Habitat Maui’s ongoing commitment to building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

The Los Angeles Rams are bringing a Minicamp to Maui from June 16-19, and will host on-field team activities on June 17 and 18, featuring players in workout gear at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku. The “Mauicamp Powered by the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority” is being offered under a partnership to promote tourism to Maui and Hawaiʻi.

Through the Home Build Program, lessees on Oʻahu will work alongside Honolulu Habitat personnel to achieve stability and self-reliance through homeownership. Habitat homebuyers contribute to the program by building their homes alongside volunteers, attending financial education classes, and paying an affordable mortgage.

After months of preparation, Habitat for Humanity Maui is embarking on the next step to help Maui wildfire survivors rebuild their homes and lives. The devastating wildfire that swept through Lahaina and Kula on Aug. 8, 2023, destroyed over 2,200 homes, leaving thousands of families displaced and in need of urgent support. The nonprofit organization has partnered with multiple community agencies to help survivors return to their homes, and is now calling on individuals, businesses, and organizations to join in this critical mission, providing the resources needed to restore stability for those affected.

This year, 23 businesses raised more than $8,800 and 1,761 pounds of food through the end of October, which combined will provide 50,710 meals to individuals and families across the Maui Food Bank’s network.  

Habitat for Humanity Maui and University of Hawaiʻi Maui College have partnered to offer a free, five-day training this month in the basics of building construction.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA Maui) will hold a Homeowners Rebuilding Informational Workshop featuring local building and permitting experts on Tuesday, May 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m at the Lahaina Civic Center.

Since becoming an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity Maui has built and renovated over 200 homes in Maui County. They are currently building in Keokea-Waiohuli in partnership with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and are moving forward with an upcoming project in Hāna which will feature 25 homes.

Habitat for Humanity Maui will host their Silver Hammer Anniversary Gala on June 3 at the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort.

Leonard Sakai was selected Maui Non Profit Directors Association Humanitarian of the Year for his work with Habitat for Humanity Maui, and Sentry Insurance captured the Community Business Award for its volunteer program with the PGA Tournament of Champions at Kapalua.

Team Members from Hilton Grand Vacations partnered with Habitat for Humanity Maui to volunteer and help build a new home for a local family.

After more than 50 years of waiting on the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands list, the Young ʻohana in Waimanalo celebrated a dream come true on Thursday.

Bachman will be replacing Sherri K. Dodson who is stepping down at the end of 2022, to lead the organization’s Homeownership Education and Counseling program.

“Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sanchez, and Shep Gordon stopped by for a tour of the Food Bank,” said Marlene Rice, Development Director at the Maui Food Bank. “It was wonderful to meet Jeff, and we are very grateful for the generosity he has extended to Maui Food Bank and other nonprofits on Maui.”

Habitat for Humanity Maui received a transformational $3.5 million gift from American author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.

Hawaiian Electric presented a $9,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity Maui to help more Valley Isle residents achieve homeownership.

Alexander & Baldwin contributed $25,000 to Maui United Way’s 2021-2022 campaign, continuing the company’s half-century-long tradition of supporting Maui County’s families.

Habitat for Humanity Maui announced the receipt of funds from the Hawai’i Resilience Fund of the Hawai’i Community Foundation to help fund its building programs.
