Residents invited to community meeting on speed tables in Haʻikū

The County of Maui invites residents to attend a community meeting on speed tables in Haʻikū on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Haʻikū Community Center, 137 Hāna Highway.

Crater Road striping begins near Haleakalā National Park next week

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is notifying the public that one lane on Crater Road (Route 378) will be closed beginning on Monday, Aug. 10 for permanent striping work. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.

Goodfellow Bros. announces waterline improvements on Pūlehu Rd. from Aug. 10 to Oct. 23, 2026

Goodfellow Bros. will be performing waterline improvements along Pūlehu Road. This project requires a road closure to motor vehicle traffic.

Weekend closures on Makawao Avenue are again postponed and will start Saturday, Aug.15, and continue until Sunday, Aug. 30.

A Haʻikū woman has succumbed to injuries sustained in a head-on crash reported on May 11, 2026. Maui Police have identified the woman as 55-year-old Teresa Campisi.

A 55-year-old Haʻikū woman sustained critical, life-threatening injuries as a result of a head-on motor vehicle collision on the Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) near the intersection of North Kīhei Road, Sunday night.

Lane closures on and along Puʻunēnē Avenue for traffic signal work

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is notifying the public of single lane closures on and along Puʻunēnē Avenue next week for installation of traffic signal detectors.  All work will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Section of South Kīhei Road to close for storm repair work from April 20-June 20

South Kīhei Road will be closed between Ohukai Road and Kūlanihākoʻi Street starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 20. The closure will remain in place around the clock, weather permitting, through June 20, 2026, for repairs following recent Kona storms, according to the County of Maui Department of Public Works.

Maui traffic advisories, Sunday, March 22: Multiple road closed due to flooding, sinkhole in Lahaina

Travel on Hāna Highway into East Maui is limited to emergency vehicles, essential workers and local traffic due to ongoing repair work and dangerous conditions. MPD has checkpoint enforcement from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on Hāna Highway. Haleakalā National Park’s summit remains closed, according to the National Park Service. Puʻunēnē Avenue night closures start March 10 in Kahului

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation will close Puʻunēnē Avenue between Wākea Avenue and West and East Kauaʻi streets for two nights starting March 10 to allow crews to do traffic signal work.

Nighttime closures on Honoapiʻilani Highway in Ukumehame

From 10 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27 to 3:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, there will be intermittent holds of traffic of around 10 minutes on the highway in Ukumehame. The traffic holds will allow crews to replace and adjust the barriers on the makai shoulder of the highway.

A County of Maui Department of Public Works reconstruction project that was scheduled to close both lanes on portions of Makawao Avenue, is being delayed to start Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, due to the potential for rain this weekend.
