Baldwin Beach Park reopens after pavilion removed

Baldwin Beach Park was reopened on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, after work to remove the park pavilion was completed. The pavilion was irreparably damaged over time by high surf and rising sea levels, according to the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation

Emergency permits in motion to remove Baldwin Beach Park pavilion

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced it has applied for emergency Shoreline Management Area permits to remove the Baldwin Beach Park pavilion, which has been damaged over time by high surf and rising sea levels. The structure has been fenced off and the public is asked to avoid the area.

Parks department offers email and text alerts for county-sponsored programs

The Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering more ways to stay informed about department-sponsored leagues, programs and activities — emails and/or text notifications.

Survey seeks resident feedback on countywide parks and recreation use, needs

Starting June 1, Maui County households will be randomly offered an invitation to complete the survey. Responses will help guide the department in managing and developing parks, facilities and recreation programs.

Patrick McCall appointed director of Parks; Shane Dudoit as deputy director

Maui Mayor Richard Bissen has appointed Patrick McCall to serve as director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, the County’s largest department with over 400 employees. Shane Dudoit was selected as deputy director.
