Two West Maui Rotary Clubs collaboratively organized school supply drives over the weekend to support children in need. Over the course of two days, they successfully collected 12 bags and boxes of school supplies and raised more than $1,500 in donations.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise will collect school supplies and funds for children in need from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 1-2  at the entrance to the Lahaina Cannery next to Longs Drugs.

The Salvation Army Kahului Corps is calling on the community to help Maui students prepare for the upcoming school year through its annual Adopt a Backpack school supply drive and assistance program.  

Now through July 18, 2026, residents across Maui are encouraged to bring new school supplies or contribute monetary donations to any Maui County FCU branch location in Kahului, Lahaina, or Wailuku. All donations will be directed toward The Salvation Army’s Adopt a Backpack program for students facing financial hardship throughout Maui County.

The event will culminate with a drive-through backpack pickup on Sunday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Keller Williams Kahului office at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center. Families in need of backpacks can request one by filling out the online registration form.

Valley Isle Community Federal Credit Union currently is holding its annual preschool supply drive for the children of Maui Economic Opportunity’s Head Start. The drive runs through July 7. Supplies may be dropped off at the credit union’s branches in Kahului (160 Paʻahana St.), Wailuku (69 N. Market St.) and Lahaina (40 Kupuohi St., Ste. 102).

Plexus Worldwide, a leading direct-selling health and wellness company, rallied hundreds of its Brand Ambassadors to participate in a volunteer effort with the Maui Food Bank. As Maui County’s primary hunger relief organization, the Maui Food Bank is the only nonprofit that collects, warehouses and distributes large quantities of food to help alleviate hunger across Maui County.

For a sixth year, Pukalani Superette has completed a school supply donation to Pukalani Elementary School’s entire fourth grade class.

Valley Isle Federal Credit Union on Thursday dropped off school supplies collected for Head Start preschoolers during a drive that ran from June 26 to July 28.
