Maui police responded to 16 burglaries, 12 vehicle thefts and 15 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Nov. 3 to Nov. 9, 2019.

Keiki Shield is aimed at predators who approach children on-line for sex or sexual activities; suspects respond to law enforcement officers posing as juveniles on internet sites and are arrested when they arrive at the prearranged sites.

Maui police are searching for the suspects in a smash and grab at the Central Maui Gold and Loan.

A Kahului man was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation into a vehicle arson fire reported the day before in Central Maui. Through an investigation police identified the offender as Robert Jordan, 41, of Kahului.

Maui police arrested and charged a man with terrorist threatening and attempted assault after responding to a report of a possible stabbing in Wailuku on Tuesday evening.

The jury in the murder trial of Kumulipo Sylva found the defendant guilty of manslaughter based on extreme mental or emotional disturbance.

Witness Kyle Keoho said, “He comes in with a machete and then he starts like threatening us in like some weird mafia… (saying) ‘You guys are aliens. I’ve been sending them to the moon,’ or ‘You guys are the demons. I send them to the moon.’ Then he yells out his name and chops him in his neck,” according to Keoho who witnessed his friend fall to the ground.

The Maui Police Department has released surveillance video of a suspect who set burglarized and fire to the Hawaii Paroling Authority building on Wili Pa Loop in Wailuku on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 4:40 a.m.

Sheriffs on Maui are searching for pre-trial felon Richard Kealoha-Kaauwai. Kealoha-Kaauwai was issued a court ordered temporary, 3-day release to attend to a personal matter.

A 37-year-old man was arrested for terroristic threatening following an altercation involving a machete on the Kahekili Highway in Waiheʻe on Wednesday night.

Beranard Brown, the man accused of second degree murder in the disappearance of Moriera “Mo” Monsalve, is headed back to Maui.
