The data indicates that between 2021 and 2024, the price for a dozen locally produced eggs rose by 28.4% from $6.91 to $8.87 while the price of imported mainland eggs increased by 51.8% from $5.50 to $8.35. The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning for the island of Maui in Maui County until 3:30 a.m. At 12:18 a.m., radar and rain gages indicated that heavy rainfall continues to move over Maui from the southwest.

As of midday today, all Maui County playing fields and stadiums, including the Waiehu Golf Course, are closed due to storm-related impacts, including high winds and flooding. Office of Recovery-West Maui at Lahaina Gateway was closed as of noon today. County of Maui Recycling Centers in Makawao, Kīhei, and Haʻikū are closed until further notice due to weather. All County of Maui offices were closed as of noon today, and officials are assessing whether to reopen Friday.

Hawaiian Electric Company reports that crews are responding to multiple storm-related outages. About 6,500 customers out of about 72,000 are without power in Maui County, the majority in parts of Upcountry and North Shore areas on Maui due to fallen trees and branches on lines.
America’s Health Rankings gives Hawaiʻi high marks for public health
Hawaiʻi ranked eighth best among the states in key health measures, according to America’s Health Rankings 2024 Annual Report. While Hawaiʻi has maintained its status as one of the nation’s healthiest states, the latest ranking is a drop from sixth place in 2023.
