March 17 marks the birthday of Queen Kaʻahumanu, a cherished Kuhina Nui from the island of Maui. This year, Queen Kaʻahumanu Center is celebrating with brand-new events that embrace community, culture and commerce.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea welcomes canoe teams from sister properties in Bora Bora and Hawaiʻi, as well as local Maui crews for an outrigger canoe paddle called “Molokini Kaʻapuni,” this Saturday, March 16, 2024. The cultural gathering, timed to celebrate the end of Makahiki season, brings together an extended ʻohana bound together by the love of the sport and shared waterways that brought the early migration of Polynesians to Hawaiʻi.

Imua presents The Color Festival Hawaiʻi April 28, from 12-6 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Events Lawn. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. The Color Festival Hawaiʻi celebrates the color and diversity of life with music, entertainment, dancing and fun for the whole family.

Coming up fast are the Kīhei 4th Friday free admission block party, an opening art reception at Hui Noʻeau, and NBC’s “The Voice” Season 24 finalist Jason Arcilla and The Mad Steppas performing at da Playground.

The Parent Teacher Student ʻOhana of Kamehameha Schools Maui invites families and friends to celebrate Hoʻolauleʻa 2024 on March 2.

This week on Maui, events include performances by former SNL comedian Leslie Jones, a Kīhei Fridays block party, a fundraiser for Hui Noʻeau Visual Arts Center, and a night with Hawaiʻi songwriters Keola Beamer, Henry Kapono and Anthony Pfluke. Mise Kimono, which offers modern Japanese fashions with a touch of Hawaii influence, will celebrate its second anniversary at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center with a “Mise Matsuri” on March 3.

Imua Discovery Garden hosts an outdoor sculpture exhibit, the largest of its kind in Maui County, aimed at raising crucial funds for the nonprofit organization while fostering a deeper appreciation for outdoor art and bolstering support for the Wailuku Arts District. 

The Wall That Heals, the largest replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall that travels the country, arrived at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku on Feb. 8, marking its first-ever visit to Maui.
