Maui High School student wins Second Congressional Art Competition

Art created by Cailyn Omuro from Maui High School was selected as the winner of the US House of Representatives Artistic Discovery Contest. Cailyn’s masterpiece will hang in the US Capitol in the Cannon tunnel on display for Members of Congress and tens of thousands of visitors to see.

BREAKING: 98th Maui Fair postponed again, community must wait another year

Maui’s local film industry making a mark with Moku Moku production in Makawao

Locally produced comedy series, Moku Moku began filming its first season on Tuesday in Makawao after a pilot test launch earlier this year. The show is now producing episodes 2-6 following a blessing at the production basecamp Upcountry.

2023 Hawaiʻi and National Youth Poet Laureate selected during Maui event

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center announced the selection of Corina Yi as Hawaiʻi’s third Youth Poet Laureate. She is a high school senior at Oʻahu’s Mililani High School. As part of the event, the National Youth Poet Laureate was also named, Salome Agbaroji of Los Angeles representing the Western Region.

Kamehameha Schools Maui students paint a mural with a message at Kahului Airport

Students say the mural was created with the hopes that visitors and residents alike properly treat the land and water with respect and understand its importance.   The ‘ōlelo no’eau (Hawaiian Proverb) that is on the mural reads, “I ola ‘oe, i ola mākou nei”, “My life is dependent on yours; your life is dependent on mine.”

Young Artmakers 2023 series offers one-week summer sessions for kids on Maui

Maui Arts & Cultural Center announces their summer visual arts education program, Young Artmakers, taking place in Schaefer International Gallery. The program, led by teaching artists and gallery staff for kids ages 5-7 and 8-12, provides an opportunity to meet and make new friends while enhancing and exercising their creative skills.
