Fourth Friday in Kīhei has been canceled due to weather on Jan. 27, 2023. On Friday, the National Weather Service issued a flood watch and forecast excessive rainfall for Maui. The Weather Service forecast an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms in Kīhei on Friday.

Queen Kaʻahumanu Center kicks off the new year with two upcoming events. Enjoy Kama‘āina Nights on Friday, Jan. 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Center Court with performances by Kalama Intermediate ʻukulele students and headliner, Dillon Pakele. A celebration for the Year of the Rabbit with AuShaolin Arts will also be held on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 2–3:30 p.m. with a lion dance performance and fireworks.

Grammy nominee and multi Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner, Kumu Hula Kamaka Kukona has reached a milestone in his hula career – 20 years of teaching hula. 

Maui’s Savannah Gankiewicz and Noelani DeNisi returned to a homecoming celebration at Kahului Airport on Tuesday evening after earning coveted titles of Miss Hawaii USA and Miss Hawaii Teen USA respectively over the weekend.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents The Doobie Brothers in concert Tuesday, May 2 in the A&B Amphitheater & Yokouchi Pavilion. This concert is part of the group’s historic 50th Anniversary Tour featuring Pat Simmons, Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald and John McFee. Tickets go on sale online only at 10 a.m. to MACC members Tuesday, Jan. 10 and to the general public Friday, Jan. 13.
