Maui’s Lily Meola to perform at songwriter’s festival in Wailea in January
Singer-songwriter Lily Meola will perform on her home island at the Maui Songwriters Festival at the Grand Wailea-Maui on Jan. 15 to 17.
Ron Artis II to perform live at The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua on Maui, Jan. 7
To kick off the new year, The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua will host singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Ron Artis II for a special concert. Artis will perform in the resort’s newly reimagined Alaloa Lounge on Saturday, Jan. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Documentary explores origins, spread of “shaka” sign, interviews kupuna
The documentary, “Shaka: A Story Of Aloha,” will be filming on Maui next week Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 28 and 29. A Maui Community Shaka Party takes place Thursday at 5 p.m. at Nalu’s South Shore Grill in Kīhei.

Grammy-winning rock group America returning to Maui for April show at MACC
Iconic band America is returning to Maui for a show at 7:30 p.m. April 14 at Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater. Henry Kapono is the special guest. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Dec. 17, for the general public, with MACC members able to buy passes as of Thursday.
Blessing held for “Ka Wahine o Kekoa” mural by Maui Public Art Corps
Painted by Fathima Mohiuddin as a project of nonprofit Maui Public Art Corps, the public artwork is an interpretation of a recorded talk-story between Kekoa Enomoto of ʻAhahui Kaʻahumanu and Queen Kaʻahumanu Center’s Kauwela Bisquera, with additional symbolism garnered through Kahului community consultations over a 6-week design period.
ʻUkulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro performs in a Hoʻonanea Concert Series at the MACC
Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents ‘ukulele wizard and musical artist, Jake Shimabukuro. He will be in concert with special guest Pure Heart, a group he co-founded early in his career, and who will also be featured in the concert Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Castle Theater.

Seabury Hall to Host “Kupuohi: An Evening of Mele, Hula, and Moʻolelo”
