Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and all of the uncertainty that has come with it, a group of Forever Miss Hawaiʻi members have joined forces to spread cheer and the aloha spirit by creating a special video to share with Hawaii’s communities.

In celebration of Motherʻs Day, internationally acclaimed artist Makana will be hosting a livestream concert on his Facebook page.

Kāhuli Leo Le‘a is partnering with Hawaiʻi News Now to produce “Hawaiian Airlines May Day 2020: Aloha ʻĀina,” transitioning the live event into a TV broadcast. The The Kālaimoku Group is hosting a virtual concert as a call to all Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders to complete the 2020 Census. The hour-long production will feature five of Hawaiʻi’s top musicians and entertainers, including Henry Kapono and Friends, Kapena, Barry Flanagan, and Grammy Award nominees Josh Tatofi and Kimié Miner.

Pacific Media Group and Hawaii News Now Present “Hale to Hale: A Concert for Hawaii’s Healthcare Heroes” on Monday, April 27, 2020. All of the musicians are participating from their homes while observing social distancing guidelines, to provide entertainment relief and celebrate the heroism of Hawaiʻi’s healthcare workers during this pandemic.

The “STEM Imagineers” of Pukalani Elementary were heading to the VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky on April 24th, but due to the COVID19 virus, the competition was canceled. Councilmember Yuki Lei Sugimura in partnership with teacher Debbie Hisashima will do a virtual showcase on Zoom with these Imagineer students to learn about their Robotics project.

The finalists for this year’s 43rd Annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards include names from among Hawaiʻi’s most talented musicians, songwriters and producers. On this year’s final ballot are the top five artists, singles or albums in 36 different categories selected by more than 500 members of the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Arts.

A new “We Are Friends… COVID-19 Relief Program” to benefit Hawaii’s Music Industry was launched this week by The Henry Kapono Foundation in partnership with the Kawakami Family and with support from Foodland.

In response to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus, organizers of the Imua Family Services Annual Gala fundraiser announced the event will now take place on Aug. 29. 

The Maui Ocean Center has decided to temporarily close its doors to the public amid the COVID-19 pandemic, effective March 18. The center’s closure will be through the end of May 2020.
