Maui County Park Security Officers Can Now Issue Citations for Emergency Rule Violations

The Maui Police Department reports that effective immediately, Park Security Officers may issue citations, for violation of the rules and orders within Maui County Parks. The public can report violations by email to mpdquarantine@mpd.net.

BREAKING: 355 New COVID-19 Cases (O‘ahu 343, Maui 7, Hawai‘i Island 4, Kaua‘i 1)

Two O‘ahu men, both over 60-years-old are the latest COVID-19 related deaths reported in Hawai‘i. There are a total of 355 newly diagnosed cases today, a record single day case count since the beginning of the pandemic. This includes 85 cases that are part of a cluster at the O‘ahu Community Correctional Center facility.  Today’s case count includes 343 cases on O‘ahu, seven on Maui, four on Hawai‘i Island and one on Kaua‘i. 

BREAKING: Additional 70 OCCC Inmates, 7 Corrections Officers Test Positive for COVID-19

In all, approximately 110 inmates were tested Tuesday with 70 testing positive and 40 negative.  Another 63 inmates were tested yesterday and those test results are pending.

Accumulation of COVID-19 Cases on Maui Expected to Show in Upcoming Reports

County and state officials are projecting a bump in COVID-19 cases reported Maui in the coming days as the state Department of Health is expected to release data accumulated over the past week.

The Island Manapua Factory in Mānoa Marketplace on Oʻahu was issued a red placard from the state Department of Health Food Safety Branch.  The eatery must also pay a $4,000 for “repeated food illness risk factor violations,” according to Health officials.

202 New COVID-19 Cases in Hawai‘i (O‘ahu 197, Kaua‘i 2, Hawai‘i Island 2, Maui 1)

The state has reported another triple digit increase in new COVID-19 cases with 202 new cases today including 197 on Oʻahu, two each on Kaua‘i and Hawai‘i Island, and one on Maui.  There were also four deaths on the island of Oʻahu.

Court Entry Restrictions Modified on Maui to Keep Judiciary Personnel Safe

Effective Aug. 11 through Aug. 31, “No one shall enter Judiciary facilities in the Second, Third, and Fifth Circuits if they have traveled in the past 14 days, or have traveled inter-island to the Second, Third, or Fifth Circuits on or after Aug. 11, 2020, and 14 days has not passed since such travel.”
