Four More Inches of Snow in Forecast for Big Island Summits

The NWS is forecasting heavy snow and patchy ice with additional snow accumulations of up to 4 inches, mainly above 12,000 foot elevation.

Flood Warning for Maui Until 9:45 a.m.

At 6:30 a.m., radar indicated very heavy rainfall over the Hāna coast, and along the slopes of windward Haleakalā. Rainfall rates of two inches per hour on saturated soils is leading to extreme runoff, with additional rainfall expected, according to the NWS forecast.

2020 Kahoʻolawe Trolling Dates Announced

Hawai ‘i Administrative Rules (HAR 13-261) require that all vessels must register annually with the KIRC before entering the reserve to troll during designated trolling dates.

AAA Hawai’i: Gas Prices See Sharp Rise From 2019

So far into the new year, gas prices in many areas throughout the islands are about 40 cents higher than they were at the start of 2019, AAA Hawai’i Weekend Gas Watch announced on Thursday. 

Flash Flood Watch Extended for Maui County

The extended period of rain could cause flooding in low spots which could make some roadways impassable. Debris in streams and gulches may clog bridges and culverts.

Hawai’i Drivers Reminded of Move Over Law

The Hawai’i Department of Transportation is urging motorists to obey the move over law, which requires drivers to slow down to a reasonable speed that is safe under the circumstances and if possible make a lane change in order to leave one lane between the driver and the emergency situation.
