The Nāpili Kai Beach Resort is the first hotel in the state of Hawaiʻi to switch to a plastic-free, fully compostable cup, the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association (MHLA) announced.

‘If The Shoe Fits’ owner retires as shoe cobbler after 20 years
Teri Edmonds has reached the end of the road as a shoe cobbler. For 20 years, she has provided Maui’s only shoe repair service at If The Shoe Fits. Now, she’s retiring from shoe repairs and starting to turn away that business.
Update/Located: Maui police seek help with information on missing visitor
The Maui Police Department asking for the public’s help with any information on the whereabouts of Susan Krasny, 76. Krasny was reported missing on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, by family members after they discovered she left her Wailea hotel room and did not return.

Sailor from Maui serves aboard US Navy floating airport
Elijah Pulotu, a sailor from Kīhei, Maui, serves aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan. Pulotu graduated from Maui High School in 2020 and joined the Navy two years ago.
Maui Nearshore Management Proposal information exchanges planned in September

Report calls for action to protect against future catastrophic wildfires
A report by the the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety recommends rebuilding strategies to prevent future wildfire disasters, such as the conflagration that engulfed Lahaina Aug. 8-9, 2023, killing at least 102 people and destroying more than 1,500 structures, mostly homes.
