Pedal Imua is alerting motorists that nearly 100 cyclists will be on the road this morning for a 60-mile trek looping around West Maui Mountains in an event to support local children facing hardships.

Hawaiʻi dodges hurricane season with one tropical cyclone that quickly weakened
Hawaiʻi evaded this year’s hurricane season with only one tropical cyclone — a below-average count for the hurricane season that runs from June 1 to Nov. 30. Typically, the seasonal average for the Central Pacific basin, which includes Hawaiʻi, is four to five tropical cyclones, according to a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration news release Wednesday.
Additional Mauna Loa eruption closures announced
Effective immediately, due to continuing volcanic activity on Mauna Loa, the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife has closed all hunting in the portion of Unit A of the Mauna Kea Forest Reserve and Game Management Area South of Daniel K. Inouye Highway across from the Gil Kahele Recreation Area.
Warning issued for rising surf of 20-26 feet
The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Warning, with surf expected to rise up to 20-26 feet this afternoon and evening, before lowering to 18 to 24 feet on Friday.
