Habitat for Humanity-Maui is proud to announce a partnership with Apogee Travel, a hotel booking website that rewards travelers while supporting the causes they care about.

The Credit Union Wildfire Relief Fund, representing a coalition of Maui’s six chartered credit unions, has donated $153,000 to the Ho‘ōla iā Mauiakama Long Term Recovery Group to support ongoing wildfire recovery efforts. The funds will directly assist families rebuilding their homes by covering insurance gaps in upcoming Mennonite Disaster Service construction projects.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly towards recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Hoʻōla iā Mauiakama Long Term Recovery Group has received a $760,528 grant from the Maui Strong Fund of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. The award will launch the new Volunteer Rebuild Housing Program, expand disaster recovery operations, and enhance coordination of direct services for families impacted by the August 2023 wildfires on Maui.

Habitat for Humanity Maui celebrated the dedication of two newly constructed homes to Native Hawaiian families in Kula earlier this year. These homes mark another milestone in Habitat Maui’s ongoing commitment to building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

Credit unions across Maui have contributed $200,000 to Habitat for Humanity Maui to support home repairs and rebuilding for families impacted by the 2023 wildfires.

Construction is set to begin in October 2025 as part of ongoing recovery efforts.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Kala Vallecillo, community engagement coordinator for Habitat for Humanity Maui, will be the speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting. The title of her presentation is “(Re)Building Homes, Communities and Hope.”

Habitat for Humanity Maui has received a $16,500 grant from Lowe’s to help with the renovation of one home on Molokaʻi in critical need of safety-related repairs.

After months of preparation, Habitat for Humanity Maui is embarking on the next step to help Maui wildfire survivors rebuild their homes and lives. The devastating wildfire that swept through Lahaina and Kula on Aug. 8, 2023, destroyed over 2,200 homes, leaving thousands of families displaced and in need of urgent support. The nonprofit organization has partnered with multiple community agencies to help survivors return to their homes, and is now calling on individuals, businesses, and organizations to join in this critical mission, providing the resources needed to restore stability for those affected.

Habitat for Humanity Maui announced it is the recipient of a $3 million donation from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. This contribution, one of the largest in the organization’s history, will directly support Habitat Maui’s ongoing efforts to address Maui’s urgent need for affordable housing, especially in light of the recent wildfires and the worsening housing crisis on the island, organization leaders said.

Following the devastating wildfires in Lahaina, Starbucks baristas nominated nine local Maui nonprofits to receive Starbucks Neighborhood Grants totaling $24,000, with four focused on Lahaina rebuilding and recovery. 

Since becoming an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity Maui has built and renovated over 200 homes in Maui County. They are currently building in Keokea-Waiohuli in partnership with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and are moving forward with an upcoming project in Hāna which will feature 25 homes.

Maui United Way announced its 23 new Community Impact Grant awardees for the 2023-2025 cycle. Organization leaders say these awardees have “demonstrated an exceptional commitment to creating measurable, lasting change in the Maui community.”

In an effort to raise awareness around the affordable housing crisis in Maui County, St. Anthony student Edward Oliveira launched a fundraiser, Paddle for Roof, to benefit Habitat for Humanity Maui.

Habitat for Humanity Maui will host their Silver Hammer Anniversary Gala on June 3 at the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort.

About 100 vendors and candidates for office have signed up for the 49th Maui County Senior Fair on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the War Memorial Gym.
