A 70-year-old Māʻalaea man suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle during a hit-and-run collision in Kīhei on Monday night. The suspected driver was arrested on suspicion of first degree negligent homicide and collisions involving death.

A 64-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision reported in South Maui on Thursday night. A preliminary police investigation reveals that a pedestrian was on the sidewalk when an unknown vehicle executed a short radius right turn out of the parking lot located at 1881 South Kīhei Road; proceeded to drive over the curb and onto the sidewalk when it collided into and drove over the pedestrian.   The operator of the unknown vehicle did not stop or render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene northbound on South Kīhei Road, police said.

Police say the man who died was known to frequent the area, and was lying in the roadway when an unknown vehicle drove over him. The vehicle was headed southwest on Lono Ave. towards Kaʻahumanu Ave. and the driver did not stop or render aid and fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to Maui police.

A fatal hit-and-run collision in Kapalua on Friday claimed the life of a 39-year-old Lahaina woman. Police say a preliminary investigation reveals that the woman was attempting to retrieve a chicken carcass out of the roadway and walk back to the southbound makai shoulder when she was struck by a white 2014 BMW X5 traveling northeast on Honoapiʻilani Highway.  The operator of the BMW did not stop or render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene northeastbound on Honoapiʻilani Highway, according to police.

A 57-year-old man died as a result of a motor vehicle collision on Lono Ave., southeast of Kaʻahumanu Ave. in Kahului early Monday morning. Police say the man who died was known to frequent the area, and was lying in the roadway when an unknown vehicle drove over him at around 3:10 a.m. on May 27, 2024.

A 34-year-old Kīhei woman suffered critical, life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision on South Kihei Road, Wednesday night.

A Lahaina man was arrested Tuesday morning, following a hit-and-run crash in which he allegedly struck a moped with his sedan and fled the scene. Police say that as a result of the collision, the moped operator, a 32-year-old Wailuku woman became caught in the undercarriage of the sedan and was dragged for a significant distance before becoming dislodged.

Maui police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian reported overnight on the Honoapiʻilani Highway in West Maui.
