Maui Food Bank announced the appointment of Brandi Saragosa as its permanent Chief Executive Officer following a comprehensive search conducted by the organization’s Board of Directors.

Mākena Golf & Beach Club (Mākena) will host a benefit dinner “Kupu ka niu, kupu ke kanaka” – The niu sprouts, the people grow – on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Mākena’s Nāulu Farm. The event will bring the community together in support of Maui Food Bank’s Da Mobile Market, which expands access to fresh, nutritious food in underserved communities including West Maui, Upcountry, and Hāna. 

Hale Kau Kau, the 35-year-old daily meals program at St. Theresa Church in South Maui, delivered its highest number of meals ever for a month in May, according to President Barry Rosenfeld.

Maui Food Bank is calling on community members to support local families by volunteering for the summer ʻAi Holo program, which delivers nutritious food directly to children and families across Maui County during the summer months.

A featured topic of discussion will be speed tables, along with a broader community conversation on local concerns, priorities, and initiatives. Representatives from county departments, public safety, and community organizations have been invited to participate and share updates.

Maui Food Bank today announced the launch of a search for its next Chief Executive Officer. Steve Ulene, who will serve as Maui Food Bank’s incoming Board Chair beginning July 1, 2026, will lead the effort as chair of the organization’s CEO Search Committee. Ulene previously served on the board as Vice Chair and is a longtime community volunteer.
