A newlywed California couple who arrived in Hawaii for their honeymoon, were arrested by special agents from the Department of the Attorney General on Thursday for allegedly violating the state’s 14-day quarantine.

Gas Theft Reported at Maui Nonprofit in Wailuku

Maui Family Support Services Inc. captured surveillance images of two individuals allegedly stealing gas from their nonprofit vehicle early Monday morning. The incident was reported at around 2:30 am. on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the business located at 1844 Wili Pa Loop in Wailuku.

With $25,000 in funding from the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawai‘i or VASH has paid to send 19 people back to their airports of origin during the COVID-19 crisis. For individuals arrested for violating the self-quarantine rules, they have the option of arranging payment of fines with the courts in lieu of returning to Hawai‘i for trials.

Bacolini was treated on scene and was later transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for further treatment. A short time later, Bacolini died as a result of the injury he sustained in this incident.

He is serving time for Theft 2, Burglary 1, Forgery, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Unauthorized Possession of Confidential Personal Information, Attempted Burglary and Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle.   He now faces an additional escape charge when found.

Couple Arrested on Kaua‘i for Violating 14-Day Quarantine

Kaua‘i police arrested 36-year-old Adam Schwarze of ‘Aiea, Hawai‘i and 31-year-old Desiree Marvin of Alexandria, Virginia on Friday for violating the state’s COVID-19 mandatory 14-day quarantine emergency order, police said.

Kīhei Man Held on $105,000 Bail, Accused of Burglary During Civil Emergency

Maui police say an unknown adult male forcefully entered a jewelry store in Pāʻia at approximately 2:55 a.m. on March 30, 2020, and allegedly removed multiple items estimated at over $100,000. The male suspect, later identified by Maui Police as Chase Mociun, 37, of Kīhei was arrested and charged for Burglary of a Building in a Civil Defense Emergency, Theft I and Criminal Conspiracy.  Due to County of Maui being in a Disaster Emergency Relief Period, police say the Burglary of a Building becomes a “B” Felony.

“There was nowhere where they were going. One of them actually said that they were headed to the homeless resource center,” said Mayor Victorino during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon. “So two of them that would have been on the island of Maui, returned home and not clutter up and take assets away from our people here in Maui County,” he said.
