The contractor selected to complete emergency slope stabilization and repair work at remote Alelele Point area near Kīpahulu in East Maui began mobilizing this week by bringing in materials and equipment.

15 recruits begin firefighter training as part of 39th Fire Recruit Class

The recruits will undergo 28 weeks of training before graduating. Twelve of the recruits will be assigned to work at County of Maui Fire Stations, and three will be assigned to State Airports Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting crews.

Maui County Council meets Tuesday for second reading of budget

The Maui County Council will consider passage on second and final reading of the county’s fiscal year 2024 budget Tuesday. The Maui County Charter requires the council to take final action on the budget by June 10.

Wailuku water service outage

The Maui Department of Water Supply reports that a water service outage will occur on June 1, 2023 from 10 p.m. to June 2, 2023 at 7 a.m. in Wailuku. All water services will be affected in the vicinity of the intersection of Waiʻale Road and Kuikahi Drive.

Community golf tournament in Mākena to benefit Maui conservation organizations, June 25

Mākena Golf & Beach Club is hosting a community golf tournament on Sunday, June 25, 2023 benefiting organizations dedicated to the protection and conservation of Maui’s leeward natural ecosystems. Proceeds from the tournament will directly benefit Uhiwai O Haleakalā, Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, and Maui Nui Seabird Recovery Project.
