Maui police say the man wanted in connection with a deadly crash in Pukalani last week, has since been taken into custody. Kaleo Kubo, 31, was taken into custody without incident on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, according to an update provided by Maui police.

A Maui teen has succumbed to injuries sustained in an early morning hit-and-run crash that occurred on Haleakalā Highway early Wednesday morning in Pukalani. Maui police have since identified the victim as Mason Pang, 19, of Makawao.

Maui police are looking for a 31-year-old man wanted in connection with a near-fatal motor vehicle collision reported early Wednesday morning in Pukalani. Police say the man, identified as Kaleo Kubo, fled the scene on foot. Kubo, who is known to frequent Central Maui, is wanted in connection with this motor vehicle collision and is also wanted for an active no-bail warrant.

A 21-year-old Kula woman suffered fatal injuries in a single-vehicle collision on Holopuni Road in Kula on Saturday afternoon. The crash occurred about 340 feet east of Pūlehu Road at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2025.

A 49-year-old Haʻikū woman suffered fatal injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Baldwin Avenue in Pāʻia, Wednesday.

A 68-year-old Kīhei man suffered fatal injuries following a motorcycle collision on Pūlehu Road Thursday afternoon. Police say the man was operating a black 2012 Harley-Davidson Switchback motorcycle and was traveling northwest on Pūlehu Road when he attempted to overtake a vehicle on a double solid yellow line. The motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle upon failing to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and drove into bushes.  

Police say the man who died was known to frequent the area, and was lying in the roadway when an unknown vehicle drove over him. The vehicle was headed southwest on Lono Ave. towards Kaʻahumanu Ave. and the driver did not stop or render aid and fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to Maui police.

A 57-year-old man died as a result of a motor vehicle collision on Lono Ave., southeast of Kaʻahumanu Ave. in Kahului early Monday morning. Police say the man who died was known to frequent the area, and was lying in the roadway when an unknown vehicle drove over him at around 3:10 a.m. on May 27, 2024.

Kūihelani Highway is now open as of 4 p.m. It was closed earlier this afternoon from Honoapiʻilani Highway to Waikō Road due to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

A Maui man suffered fatal injuries in a head-on collision on the Haleakalā Highway on Christmas Eve.

A Haʻikū man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a weekend motorcycle crash at the Dairy Road, Hukilike Street intersection in Kahului. Police say 28-year-old Matthew Perreira died on Tuesday morning while at the Maui Memorial Medical Center.  

A 72 year old Kīhei man suffered fatal injuries in a moped crash reported Thursday night on the Piʻilani Highway in South Maui.

The charges come nearly a year after the fatal crash, which was reported on July 21, 2019 on the Piʻilani Highway in Kīhei.  Mildred Jouvenat, 49, and her son, 14 year old Jacob Jouvenat suffered fatal injuries in the crash.  

The Mustang crashed through construction fencing at the old Maui Lu site, and continued out of control, rolling over and coming to rest upside down, landing 15 feet atop a pile of lumber.  A 38-year-old Wailuku man was arrested for negligent homicide, driving under the influence and excessive speeding after fleeing the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash in Kīhei early this morning.
