The Sewing Hui of Maui is trying to close a $16,000 funding gap by Dec. 31 for its program “Stitching Futures: Costume Design & Production Mentorship Program.”

The Hana Hou Music Program, a nonprofit that provides free music education and performances across Maui, has announced its annual end-of-year fundraising campaign and the launch of its first-ever 2026 Winter Session on Maui, along with a concert on Oʻahu to close out the year.

Maui OnStage has announced its 2026 theater season, a rich lineup of five productions ranging from classic mysteries to family-friendly musicals and a world premiere by a local playwright.

Various County of Maui offices and facilities will be closed briefly in upcoming weeks, departments announced.

Maui OnStage is delighted to announce its holiday production of “A 1940’s Radio Christmas Carol,” running Nov. 21 through Dec. 7 at the historic ʻĪao Theater.

Maui OnStage will hold open auditions for “The Rocky Horror Show” on Friday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Historic ʻĪao Theater in Wailuku.

Adaptations Dance Theater announces the return of its annual summer performance, “Bring it Home,” celebrating its seventh season with a weekend of contemporary dance at the historic ʻĪao Theater, Aug. 15–17, 2025.

Noalani Helela’s play Aloha Kaua will be showing at the historic ʻĪao Theater, March 8 and 9. Aloha Kaua is a historical drama about the  period in King Kamehameha III’s rule known as “the time of Kaomi” (ka wa  ia Kaomi).

Maui OnStage opens Agatha Christie’s classic mystery “Murder on the Orient Express” on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Historic ʻĪao Theater. The play runs for three weekends.

In March of 2020, COVID precautions had caused sweeping closures of Maui’s Friday Town Parties. Over four years later, Wailuku First Fridays is making a comeback. The free community street party returns to Market Street on Aug. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Most recently, The Sewing Hui collaborated with Maui OnStage for their production of the musical Seussical, based on the works of Dr. Seuss. This production runs from July 12 to Aug. 4, 2024 at the Historical ‘Īao Theater in Wailuku. Costume Director Jennifer Oberg led the passionate team of volunteers in creating a unique costume wardrobe for this whimsical production.

Thanks to the Wave of Harmony Foundation’s, kids 12 and under receive free entry to a Dr. Seuss extravaganza that performs at the Historic ‘Iao Theater in Wailuku from July 12 through Aug. 4.

To close out its 2023-24 theatrical season, ProArts Playhouse is hosting a play written by Maui’s own Moses Goods III that chronicles the highs and lows of 1970s life on the outside of convention, based on the true story of one Honolulu Hotel Street prostitute’s harrowing journey.

This week on Maui, a musical tribute to Gutsy Women honors Women’s History Month, An African American dance company shares its drumming roots, and Maui Arts & Cultural Center has its annual gala fundraiser. Coming up fast are the Tony Award winning musical Kinky Boots, Maui Pops Orchestra’s music of the Roaring ’20s, and a historic play reviving the memory of Hawaiʻi’s Prince Kūhiō.

Several festivals on Maui to benefit Maui wildfire victims are coming up, including a donation drive for the Maui Food Bank and for musicians left with no home and instruments. Find our comprehensive listing HERE.

Adaptations Dance Theater returns with its 5th annual “Bring it Home” dance concert Aug. 11-13, showcasing resident and guest dance artists with an evening-length work.

ʻAinakea, a play about Maui in the 1950s, debuts at the Historic ʻĪao Theater on July 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Maui’s Adaptations Dance Theater will commemorate its milestone anniversary in August with the return of the “Bring it Home” artist residency and dance concert series, featuring collaborations between Maui-raised dance artists and resident dancers.

SMALL TOWN * BIG ART artist Anthony Pfluke will present a 30-minute public, outdoor pop-up performance featuring original songs inspired by the history, culture and sense of place of Kahoʻolawe and Wailuku, Maui. The event takes place on June 16, 2023, at Kīpuka Square beside the ʻĪao Theater in Wailuku.
