Maui OnStage has announced its 2026 theater season, a rich lineup of five productions ranging from classic mysteries to family-friendly musicals and a world premiere by a local playwright.

ProArts Playhouse in Kīhei will open its holiday production of “The Reluctant Elf” on Dec. 5, with performances running select days through Dec. 14 at its theater in Azeka Plaza.

Seabury Hall’s performing arts students will showcase “Stoppard Squared,” two plays by playwright Tom Stoppard, one weekend only this March.

The hit sci-fi musical “Little Shop of Horrors” opens at ProArts Playhouse on Friday, March 14.

Maui OnStage opens Lee Cataluna’s “Flowers of Hawaiʻi” on Friday, Feb. 14 and runs for three weekends at the Historic ʻĪao Theater.

Last year, Kīhei resident James Nevius—a musician, composer and playwright—released an album blending classical and ambient music called “On the Nile: A Musical Landscape in 18 Parts.” Next week, on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, “On the Nile” comes to life as a dance and theater performance at ProArts Playhouse in Kīhei.

Adapted from the classic Christmas film of the same title, “Elf The Musical Jr” arrives at Maui Preparatory Academy’s Bozich Center just in time to kick off the holiday season.

A new theater piece from TeAda Productions and members of the Micronesian community is set to premiere at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in the McCoy Studio Theater on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.

Day of Hope and Prayer was highlighted by a heartfelt musical and artistic performance by ʻUlalena, a beloved Lahaina-based group that headlined Lahaina’s Maui Theater for two decades. Maui Academy of Performing Arts has received a $1,000,000 donation for its new black box theatre in Wailuku from philanthropist Susan Naylor Moulton. Currently under construction, the Naylor Family Theatre will open in spring 2025.

Adaptations Dance Theater returns with its 5th annual “Bring it Home” dance concert Aug. 11-13, showcasing resident and guest dance artists with an evening-length work.

ProArts Playhouse is hosting a variety events in July, featuring hip hop, jazz, blues, burlesque, comedy and more.

Maui’s Adaptations Dance Theater will commemorate its milestone anniversary in August with the return of the “Bring it Home” artist residency and dance concert series, featuring collaborations between Maui-raised dance artists and resident dancers.
