A motorcyclist is hospitalized in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle on the Honoapiʻilani Highway in Kāʻanapali on Friday evening. The 35-year-old Lahaina man was operating an orange 2017 KTM motorcycle and was traveling south within the inner lane of the highway when he collided into a white 2024 Chevrolet Suburban that was making an illegal left turn onto the highway from the parking area of 2580 Kekaʻa Drive, according to a preliminary police investigation.

A 44-year-old Kahului woman was pulled unresponsive from a vehicle after it was involved in a rollover accident on West Kuiaha Rd. in Haʻikū on Thursday morning. A 2-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle, did not sustain injuries as a result of the collision. Both were extricated by good Samaritans.

Update: A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Kahului on Friday, has since succumbed to his injuries and died while at the Maui Memorial Medical Center early Saturday morning. Police have identified the pedestrian as Randal Takatani, 65, of Kahului.
