Veteran firefighter on Maui charged with sex assault of a minor
Maui police arrested and charged longtime Maui firefighter Shawn Rogers, 52, with first degree sexual assault and the continuous sexual assault of a minor under 14 years old, police said. Rogers, who is a battalion chief and 25-year veteran of the department, posted bail which was set at $150,000, representatives with the Maui Police Department tell Maui Now.
Update: Waiehu brushfire 100% contained
A brush fire in Waiehu burned 1.75 acres on Friday afternoon. The fire was reported at around 12:57 p.m. on May 24, 2024 in an area near the Kahekili Highway and Waiehu Beach Road intersection. Crews arrived on scene to find at least two separate areas where abandoned vehicle fires had spread to the surrounding brush.
Nāpili structure fire results in one person displaced, $205K in damage
One person was displaced following a structure fire on Papaua Place in Nāpili on Tuesday night. The fire was reported at 11:12 p.m. on April 2, at a two-story garage/ʻohana unit.
