North Shore Surf Lowered to 10-15 Feet

Surf along the north facing shores of Maui is diminishing today, prompting the cancellation of a high surf warning that was issued earlier by the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has extended the high surf advisory for the north facing shores of Maui and the north and west facing shores of Molokaʻi until midnight on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.

WARNING: 40-50′ Surf to Pound North Shores

Forecasters say the surf made its way down to Niʻihau and Kauaʻi overnight, and is expected to reach Oʻahu by sunrise, and reach Maui and Molokaʻi by mid-morning today.

WARNING: 40 to 50 Foot Surf Expected Along North Shores

The forecast calls for surf to be in the 40 to 50 foot range along the north facing shores of affected islands; 20 to 30 feet along the west facing shores of Oʻahu and Molokaʻi; and 12 to 18 feet along the west facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island.

Warning Level Surf 20-30 Feet on North Shores

Surf is expected to build to 20 to 30 feet along the north facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi today, according to an updated forecast issued by the National Weather Service.

Warning Level North Shore Surf Forecast at 20-30 Feet

Warning level surf of 20 to 30 feet is expected to peak on Wednesday along the north facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi. The conditions on the water are the result of a combination of a powerful low-pressure system north of the state, and a strong high-pressure system far to the northwest, according to the NWS.

Surf will be in the 20 to 28 foot range along the north facing shores of Maui and Molokai; and 15 to 20 feet along the west facing shores of the Friendly Isle.

Northwest Swell Diminishing, Surf Advisory Continues

High Surf Warning to Bring 20-30 Foot Surf

An unusually long period northwest swell will bring warning level surf to the islands tonight and into the weekend. There is a High Surf Warning in effect for the North and West facing shores of Maui and Molokai; and the West facing shores of Lanai and Kahoolawe until 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013.
