Wailea Golf Club will host the 2024 Women’s Golf Day at Wailea – an annual celebration of Women’s Golf Month and a benefit for the Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation – on June 28, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wailea Blue Course.

The Honua Finals will bring together over 120 surfers representing the top high school surf teams from New Zealand, California, and for the first time ever, all four counties in the State of Hawaiʻi. The holding period is July 9-14, 2024 with the contest running on the best two days of surf. 

Maui golfers Lakota Lee and Christopher Chung Salem are advancing to the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship after winning in their respective age divisions at the qualifying event on Wednesday. They are joined by Lahaina golfer Renner Chumley, the third qualifier from Maui.

Kelis Kaleopaʻa (HAW) and Kaniela Stewart (HAW) won titles in the Local Motion Surf Into Summer At Home In The Hawaiian Islands, over a heavily-contested field on Wednesday. Ala Moana Bowls provided three-to-four conditions for Kaleopaʻa and Stewart, alongside their longboard contingent, to showcase style and poise under pressure, according to the World Surf League. Maui High School has coaching opportunities open for positions in Girls Water Polo and Softball. To apply, email a resume to Athletic Director Michael Ban at michael.ban@k12.hi.us. The deadline to apply is Friday, June 14.

Maui recipients are Madison Strand of King Kekaulike High School and Jasmyn Yoshikawa of Baldwin High School. Winning schools on Maui are Maui Preparatory Academy for small school, and Kamehameha Schools Maui in the large school division.

Maui Swim Club and Maui County’s Department of Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Division have teamed up to create an annual tuition-free learn to swim program for keiki.

The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational has secured a new sponsor. On Monday, Rip Curl broke the news of a brand new partnership with the competition ahead of the forthcoming event this winter—its 40th year at Waimea Bay, Oʻahu.

The Sentry, alongside representatives from Sentry Insurance, announced today that more than a dozen Maui nonprofit organizations benefited from the 2024 event, which generated $735,694 in charitable funds. This marks the largest charitable donation to local organizations since the event moved to Maui in 1999.

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) on Wednesday announced the signing of Maui native Tommy Musto to a Major League Soccer contract. With the signing, Tommy becomes the first-ever Hawaiʻi-born player to sign with LAFC, and the 13th in league history.   

Registration opens Wednesday for the County of Maui, Department of Parks and Recreation, South District 9- and 10-year-old Youth Basketball League.

The Maui Bicycling League held its annual Ride of Silence on Saturday, joining over 400 locations worldwide in honoring cyclists who have been injured or lost their lives while riding. The event drew more than 30 bike riders and advocates who came together to ride in silence, dressed in white, to commemorate those who have tragically died while cycling.

Lahainaluna High School is seeking head coach applicants to fill vacancies in three sports programs including girls and boys cross country, cheerleading and baseball. The deadline to apply for all positions is July 4, 2024.

These 12 outstanding senior student-athletes were selected by a 13-person committee of current and former sports reporters, athletic directors and coaches from around the state. The criteria is based mainly on athletic achievement but character, sportsmanship, academic record and community service also are taken into consideration.

The talent displayed on the field was a landmark for the MIL in what can arguably be labeled its best sport.

The 20th Annual Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem was held May 4 and 5, 2024 at Ho’okipa Beach Park. The event, hosted by Maui surfer Ian Walsh is a nonprofit event that’s designed to hone the skills of up and coming Maui surfers, and prepare them for success on a larger scale.

Five high school seniors from Hawaiian Style Volleyball Club gathered for a ceremony at Jon Garcia Gymnasium on the Baldwin High School campus on May 7 to sign commitment letters to play college volleyball.

History was made on Saturday night as the Seabury Hall Girls Track and Field team earned a come-from-behind state championship title in the inaugural 4×800 meter relay on Oʻahu.
