Women’s Golf Day at Wailea celebrates women players, benefits animal rescue

Wailea Golf Club will host the 2024 Women’s Golf Day at Wailea – an annual celebration of Women’s Golf Month and a benefit for the Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation – on June 28, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wailea Blue Course.

High school surfers to compete in inaugural World Cup of Interscholastic Surfing at Ala Moana Bowls in July

The Honua Finals will bring together over 120 surfers representing the top high school surf teams from New Zealand, California, and for the first time ever, all four counties in the State of Hawaiʻi. The holding period is July 9-14, 2024 with the contest running on the best two days of surf. 

Three of Maui’s junior golfers qualify for IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship

Maui golfers Lakota Lee and Christopher Chung Salem are advancing to the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship after winning in their respective age divisions at the qualifying event on Wednesday. They are joined by Lahaina golfer Renner Chumley, the third qualifier from Maui.

Kelis Kaleopaʻa (HAW) and Kaniela Stewart (HAW) won titles in the Local Motion Surf Into Summer At Home In The Hawaiian Islands, over a heavily-contested field on Wednesday. Ala Moana Bowls provided three-to-four conditions for Kaleopaʻa and Stewart, alongside their longboard contingent, to showcase style and poise under pressure, according to the World Surf League. In the end, it was South Shore sweep for the two competitors as Waikīkī’s reigning WSL Longboard Champion, Kai Sallas (HAW) and American Samoa’s Sive Jarrard (ASM) earned runner-up finishes. HMSA awards $75,000 in scholarships to 15 high school seniors; $13,500 to outstanding high schools

Maui recipients are Madison Strand of King Kekaulike High School and Jasmyn Yoshikawa of Baldwin High School. Winning schools on Maui are Maui Preparatory Academy for small school, and Kamehameha Schools Maui in the large school division.

Free learn to swim lessons for youth start July 1
