Roselani Place, an assisted living community on Maui has identified 20 COVID-19 positive cases as of Monday.  The positive case count at the facility as of Sunday includes eight residents and 12 staff.

Maui Health identified additional positive COVID-19 patients, bringing the total number of infections at the facility since Aug. 12, to 66.  Total infections over the past two weeks include 31 patients and 35 health care workers.

According to the company, the number of customers at the shop decreased to less than five per day since the the reinstatement of the 14-day quarantine for interisland travelers.

There are 169 new COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi today including: 150 on Oʻahu, 10 on Maui and nine on Hawaiʻi Island. The state Department of Health reports that there were two additional deaths on the island of O‘ahu, bringing the total over the course of the pandemic to 49.

This week, Maui Humane Society is taking part in Clear the Shelters – a nationwide pet adoption event that helps find loving homes for animals in need.  

Maui family-owned Miyake Concrete Accessories, Inc. is merging with Hilo family-founded, fifth generation HPM Building Supply. Miyake operates four building supply stores in Kīhei, Lahaina, Makawao and Wailuku and one truss manufacturing plant on Maui.

A Sunday afternoon brush fire near the Kūihelani Highway, Waikō Road intersection burned an estimated 1.32 acres of brush and kiawe before being brought under control.

There are 248 new COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi today including: 228 on Oʻahu, 12 on Maui and eight on Hawaiʻi Island. This marks the 20th consecutive day that the daily count has been in the triple digits.  More than 96% of the active cases statewide are on the island of Oʻahu.

Contact tracing on Maui includes 24 health investigators and 20 Hawaiʻi National Guard soldiers, according to a spokesperson with the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health.

Maui Police Lieutenant Audra Sellers said, “Thus far, nothing has indicated foul play.” She said everyone that police have spoken to so far has cooperated and at this point the case is considered “active and open.”   

The call to action comes after a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report showed elevated vaping numbers among Hawaiʻi’s youth.

There are 284 new COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi today including: 259 on Oʻahu, 15 on Hawaiʻi Island and 10 on Maui.  One of the Maui cases yesterday was on the island of Molokaʻi. The state Department of Health reports that an O‘ahu resident is the state’s 47th COVID-19 death. Details are pending release. This marks the 19th consecutive day that the daily count has been in the triple digits, with a record breaking 355 cases reported on Thursday, Aug. 13.  More than 96% of the active cases statewide are on the island of Oʻahu.

“For whatever anyone thinks about COVID-19 and the coronavirus, there’s one thing we know, as people of Hiʻiaka, as people of Laka, as people that come from this strong tradition of hula, we know that the end of three anahulu–if we focus on wellbeing, we will be better than we were 30 days before that,” said one of the organizers Kumu Hula Mehanaokala Hind.
