Police say Steven Wright, 66, of Kīhei was arrested at around 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at about 11:10 a.m., after police received a tip via the mpdquarantine@mpd.net portal.

A 34-year-old Oregon man was arrested on Maui on Monday, Dec. 14 for allegedly violating Rules and Orders pertaining to a quarantine violation.  

On Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at about 10:30 a.m., Jordan Ware, 34, of Wailuku was arrested for Rules and Orders, pertaining to quarantine violation, police said.

A father and his adult son, both from California, are set to return to the mainland following their arrest at Maui’s Kahului Airport for alleged violation of Maui’s Rules and Orders.

Two New York visitors were arrested on Maui for alleged violations of COVID-19 Rules and Orders relating to quarantine.

Special Agents with the Attorney General’s office conducted quarantine checks at two Waikīkī hotels as part of a proactive attempt to enforce quarantine orders.  

Six of the individuals were residents of Maui and the rest were from various states across the mainland including California, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia and Illinois. 

Maui police arrested two Chicago women at a Maui Airport on Monday night for allegedly violating state and county mandatory orders relating to the 14-day quarantine on arriving travelers.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino thanked the traveling public for exercising patience as the County of Maui works to improve and streamline its implementation of the newly reinstated interisland quarantine.

“Do not be surprised in the next couple of days we jump astronomically.  I’m looking at 15 to 18 new cases that they call ‘are in the queue’ and have not been confirmed, but are probably positive,” said Mayor Victorino.

On Saturday, Mayor Victorino visited Kahului Airport to check on layout and staffing.  “I would warn everyone, please be patient if you are returning or leaving.  The lines may be a little longer than normal so please be patient,” he said.

Effective Tuesday, Aug. 11, all travelers arriving in a Maui County port or airport must follow the state’s mandatory 14-day quarantine.  The quarantine includes travel between Maui to Hawaiʻi Island or Kauaʻi, as well as travel to and from Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi.
