The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users that single lanes will be closed at the intersection of Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500), Kūihelani Highway (Route 380), Maui Veterans Highway (Route 311) and Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Way (Route 3800), on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 24, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.

The state Department of Transportation will be conducting road work this week that will result in lane closures at various locations. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

Kahekili Hwy is closed at Waiehu Beach Road, near the mac nut farms due to a traffic accident. Maui police issued a road closure notice at 6:15 a.m. on June 22, 2024.

The northbound lane on Keawe Street between the Lahaina Bypass and Kupuohi Street will be closed at 9 p.m. each night, beginning Monday, June 3, to 5:30 a.m. the next day, with the work ending Friday morning, June 7. Traffic in both directions will be maintained through alternating lane control (contraflow) in the remaining lane. There will be signs and personnel to direct motorists at both ends of the work area.

Update: (1:01 p.m., May 30, 2024) ʻĪao Valley Road is now open in both directions. It was closed earlier due to a motor vehicle accident at Aliʻi Drive near Kepaniwai Park in Wailuku.

(Update: 11 a.m., April 25, 2024) The Maui Veterans Highway is now OPEN in the area of the Central Maui Baseyard. It was closed for three hours while police conducted an investigation following a motor vehicle accident.

The Honoapiʻilani Highway is now open in both directions as of 6:25 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024. The road was closed for an extended period earlier this afternoon due to a fatal motor vehicle accident in the Māʻalaea area near Mile 7.

Piʻilani Highway is closed between Mile 29 and 31 in Kaupō due to flooding. A portion of Makawao Ave. is closed due to two large trees that have fallen and downed power lines block both lanes. Maui police have closed South Kīhei Road from Ohukai to Kīhei Bay Vista at 715 South Kīhei Road, due to heavy flooding. Crews are working to remove a landslide blocking the northbound lane of the Honoapiʻilani Highway at Mile 35.5 and 36 in Honokōhau.

A 71-year-old Maui woman and her dog are safe after the vehicle they were in plunged off the Kahekili Highway on Friday.

The Holiday Lane Closure Restriction runs from Monday, Dec. 18, through Tuesday, Jan. 2. Only closures with demonstrated need (e.g., necessary for safety or to avoid lengthy construction delays) have been approved and are on this list. There will be no lane closures on Monday, Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas Day.

As of 8:08 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, the Honoapiʻilani Highway is open to the public. It was partially closed between Lower Honoapiʻilani Road and Kai Malina Parkway due to a motor vehicle accident reported in the afternoon.

The Hāna Highway is closed between mile markers 40 and 41 in the area of Laulima Farms due to flooding. The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation was headed out to Mile 21 of the Hāna Highway at around 9:12 a.m. to clear a reported mud/rock slide. Piʻilani Highway in East Maui is closed at mile markers 16, 28, miles 29 to 31 from Kaupō to Nuʻu, and at the bridge at mile 36 due to flooding.

Waiehu Beach Road is now open in both directions. The road was closed earlier due to an accident involving a vehicle and a moped.
