Maui police have launched a second degree assault investigation into an incident that occurred near 270 Waiehu Beach Road in Wailuku. Police say an individual was arrested on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and subsequently released pending further investigation.

To maintain reliable service, Hawaiian Electric crews will be working to relocate 11 poles along Waiehu Beach Road between Kahekili Highway and Maka‘ala Drive, from Monday, June 15 to Saturday, July 4 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. No service interruption is expected.

One lane on Waiehu Beach Road (Route 3400) may be closed beginning next week for pavement marking and striping work.

At approximately 11:40 a.m., the woman was reportedly attempting to gather water using a basket when she fell into the river. Due to recent heavy rains, the river was flowing rapidly at the time. According to a witness, she became fully submerged and has not been seen since.

Road repair work and the installation of raised crosswalks and speed tables will close one lane in various areas on Waiehu Beach Road (Route 3400) from Monday, Dec. 8 through Friday, Dec. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A diver was rescued from waters off of Waiehu on Tuesday afternoon following reports that the man was in distress about 200-300 yards offshore.

Kahekili Hwy is closed at Waiehu Beach Road, near the mac nut farms due to a traffic accident. Maui police issued a road closure notice at 6:15 a.m. on June 22, 2024.

A brush fire in Waiehu burned 1.75 acres on Friday afternoon. The fire was reported at around 12:57 p.m. on May 24, 2024 in an area near the Kahekili Highway and Waiehu Beach Road intersection. Crews arrived on scene to find at least two separate areas where abandoned vehicle fires had spread to the surrounding brush.

Maui police issued an update on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, saying Maelynne Mollena was located and found to be in good health.  The Maui Police Department thanked the public for their assistance.

A 56-year-old Kahului man suffered critical life-threatening injuries when he was ejected from a moped he was operating during a collision on Wednesday night in Waiehu.

Waiehu Beach Road is now open in both directions. The road was closed earlier due to an accident involving a vehicle and a moped.
